Introduction

A free Smalltalk system

Details

The Squeak system itself has also had many improvements since v2.8 for
which you should peek at the www.squeak.org site. Perhaps the most
interesting is the introduction of a package management system.

Aside from all the facilities expected in a fully integrated object
oriented programming environment (code browsers, object inspectors,
debuggers, source management etc) and associated libraries (advanced
graphics 2D and 3D, UI widgets, network client and server capabilities,
etc etc) Squeak includes a number of neat applications such as a mail
client and an IRC client for free.

Squeak runs on many platforms (RiscOS, Mac, OS/2, windows*, *nix, DOS,
various embedded systems) bit identically - no recompiling is needed.
You can copy a snapshot file from an RPC to a powerMac and run it
immediately.
