Introduction

Acorn FrontEnd to GNU C Compiler gcc

Details

Double click on the !GCC icon to load it onto the icon bar.

Produce a C text source file, in a directory called 'c' within your project directory.

Double click on the C text file or drag it to the bar icon to enter its file name into the main 'SetUp' panel slot. Alternatively clicking on the bar icon brings up the main 'SetUp' panel and the C text file can be dragged to this panel, or the file name can be typed manually into the slot at the top of this panel.

Select options from the 'SetUp' panel and from the 'SetUp' panel menu, obtained by clicking 'Menu' over the panel. Click on the 'Run' icon. After a while an Absolute file is offered for saving in your project directory, with the same name as the C text file.

Additional Help is available from the bar icon menu, or by using the Acorn facility !Help, present in the 'Apps' directory.

You will also need to download 'clib.zip', 'gcc.zip' and 'unixlib.zip' from this page.

The usage of these zipped applications is described in the file 'ReadMe1st' in 'GCCFront.zip'.

For more Technical Information, please consult the documents within the directory 'docs' within the !gcc application directory within 'gcc.zip'.

Also within !GCC directory, please read the text file 'COPYING' for GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENCE giving conditions of use.

NB This Version is Pre-Release Version 3, which still allows 'writable strings' in your C code, this subsequently being deprecated as being a bad construct.
